Elizabeth Raposa Obituary

TAUNTON- Elizabeth Ann (Schiffman) Raposa, age 92, longtime resident of Taunton, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Morton Hospital in Taunton. She was the loving wife to the late Louis M. Raposa, who passed away on September 25, 2004.

Born in Providence, RI, Elizabeth was one of three daughters born to the late Bernard and Mary (Lewin) Schiffman. She was raised in Providence and settled in Taunton following her  marriage.

Elizabeth spent many years fulfilling the role of Homemaker for her family, where she took great pride in providing a safe and comforting home to her family. As her kids grew  up, she worked as a Bookkeeper for Dr. Mealy, a local pediatrician in the Taunton area. At the age of 52, Elizabeth returned to school and received her Licensed Practical Nurse Certification. She was employed for many years at Lakeville Hospital, ensuring her patients received the best possible care. At one point, she had the responsibility of caring for six individuals who were living with the assistance of the Iron Lung.

In her spare time, Elizabeth had a knack for cooking, but especially baking. She loved to prepare delicious baked treats for all of her family, ensuring no one left hungry. She shared her love of baking with others, as she was a Cooking Instructor at Girls, Inc., in Taunton. Elizabeth enjoyed birdwatching, always on the lookout for cardinals and she enjoyed tending to her garden. She was a gifted singer and shared her voice to many who attended Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Taunton. Above all, she was most happy with the time spent and memories made with her dear family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth is survived by her cherished children: Maribeth Enos (Scott) of Warwick, Kathleen Reposa (Mark) of E. Taunton, Steven Raposa  and Lisa Ann Raposa of Taunton; her grandchildren: Jackie Cenac (Ryan) of Silver Spring, MD, Chris Enos (Jacqie) of RI, Brendan Enos of RI, Stephanie Reposa  and Courtney Reposa of E. Taunton; her great-grandchildren: Ayden, Anthony, Ava, Jade, and Jasmine; and also numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was the sister of the late Barbara Martin and Joan Kohler.

Elizabeth’s Mass of Christian Burial for the repose of her soul, will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 9am in St. Anthony Church, 126 School St., Taunton. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Anthony Church and park in the lot behind the church.  Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, E Britannia St., Taunton.
